The couuty commissioners met in regular monthly session at the court house last Wednesday, and were kept busy with election bills and the regular monthly grind Nearly 300 bills were allowed, a large majority of them being for election expenses. V lewers and surveyors report on county road No. 416; report read first time December 7, and sec ond time December 8. There lie ing no remonstrance or claim for damages filed, it was ordered that report be approved, that the road be established as per plat and sur vey; and clerk instructed to issue warrant in favor of viewers for $4.50 each. Petition and subscription, Ilen- drick's bridge; citizens having sub scribed the sum of $450 towards building said bridge, it is ordered that the contract be let for its con struction as early in the spring as possible. Petition received asking for as sistance to pay funeral expenses o( Mike Kelly. It appearing that the citizens of Hillsboro have subscrib ed liberally toward said expenses, and that $7.75 more is required, it is ordered that a warrant for that amount be drawn. , Matter of damages on Scholls bridge; county clerk is authorized and directed to receipt for said damages. Matter of per diem and mileage, witnesses for prosecuting attorney; ordered that warrants be drawn as marked on list. Petition, for the keeping of In mates on poor farm; ordered that the contract be awarded for keep ing inmates and for the rent of the farm for two years from November 1, 1904, to A. J. Roy; bond fixed at $500. Matter of rent for poor farm. It appearing that the crops were al most a failure, it is ordered that the rent for three months l remitted. In the matter of the changes of road districts and appointment of supervisors; ordered tliat all peti tions for the appointments of super visors and changes of road districts- will be considered by the county court at the next January term and if found advisable and for the best interest cf the county roads and the general public, said petitions will be granted. In the matter of the approval of petition for the establishment of Drainage District No. 5. , It apt pearing that on the 6th day of July, 1904, the petition for the establish ment ol said district was approved by the county court and so entered on the docket, but through mistake was not entered on the commission er's journal, it is ordered that the same be entered thereon as "nunc pro tunc" of that date. It appearing to the court that K. X. Harding and W. C. Kenton have applied for warehouse license and have filed a good and sufficient bond in the sura of $1,000, it is or dered that license be issued for one year from June 25, 1904. Ordered that a reduction of 50 per cent be granted Fritz Stroliel, and sheriff will cancel said taxes on delinquent roll. J. L. Laughlin having filed his resignation as supervisor, it is or dered that said resignation be ac cepted, bis report approved; that he las performed thirty-three days work for which he is entitled to $ 2.50 per day, and clerk is instruct ed to draw warrant for the same. t is further ordered that the action of the county judge and Commis sioner C. B. Buchanan in appoint ing A. B. Todd supervisor lie ap proved and that A. B. Todd is here by declared supervisor of Road Dis trict No. 1 3. Report of County Recorder K. I. Kuratli approved; total receipts for the month $37 j 50. It is ordered that L. P. Spence be appointed deputy sheriff. Petition of G. W. Marsh for tele phone franchise granted; poles to be erected on the outside boundar ies pf road or roads. . . Petition of J. II. Davis for tele phone franchise granted; poles to be erected outside boundaries of road or roads. Report of County Clerk K. J. Codraan approved; total receipts, $249.60. Bishop Bros. lond for furnishing lumber approved. Petition of Wm. Bagley tor deed to cemetery lot in Presbyterian cem etery granted; that the paupers buried on the lot be removed at the expense of said Bagley. The appointment of Chas. VVest- cott as deputy sheriff is confirmed. State of Oregon vs. Geo. Tur- pin; allowed as marked on trans cript. . Ordered that road supervisors be required to make their annual re- jxrts and send them to the county clerk not later than January I, 1904. It is ordered that the sheriff have the boarding of prisoners w hen the contract with C. II. Jeremiah ex pires. Contract expired December 3rd.
