Tbe councilmen are represen tative, progressive citizens who can be relied upon to wisely administer the city's atfilrs. Recorder Clark and Treasurer Hudson are probably the best men in town who can be gotten fir these position?; experienced, faith ful and tried, certainly their records have left little to be desired and come as near giving general satisfaction as can tie expected until all men gut to see and think alike. Marshal Cronln has been attentive to his duties, is an old soldier, which ought to give a man the preference for any public po sition, and will undoubtedly be re elected. Forest Grove is witnessing Its an nual moral wave which every twelve months disturbs tne minds of our people but 'seems nut to work any disturbance of the business at which It pretends to be aimed. The ticket already nominated Is made up of Forest Grove's best men, nut before election comes it is an nounced (here will be another ticket proclaimed, with great fl urih at an anti saloon rally, as the only safe guardian for the city's morality, and every effort will be strained by many well-meaning men to defeat as un reliable these candidates who in any ordinary business transaction would have the entire confidence of nine tenths ofjthe community, the 'good intentionid politicians being In entire ignorance that they are the catspaw to rake out of the fire what the drugstore wants. The estimable J itimaUst who n his moral editorials in Mr. Miller's building will doubtless come again to Mr. Miller's defense as he has before, but perhaps not so openly. His ticket should be latielled "for prohibition, including prohibition drugstore." It ought to state the Nsuh fairly and make the running on its merits. Did Mrs. Dilley leave those blanks of the names of tbe saloons where ber boys were made drunk, or did tbe editor of the Forest Grove Times fear to offend some businf is patron? Can anyone find the name of Druggist Miller in The Time-? D tea anyone doubt whose name Mrs. Dilley wrote? ' if Mrs. Dilley's letter bad been sent to The News there would have neen no blanks left by the editor and if any one has any doubts as to who is meant by Druggist Miller it Is Charles F. Miller. But The News does not pose as fbe organ of the new ticket. David Smith was a good enough man when he was beat en on the "temperance" ticket and he was Just as good a man when he was elected In spite of their opposi tion, and he will be to different whether be wins or losea next Mon day.
