Miss Elliott is a resident of this connty and now about at years of age. She is tbe great grand daughter of Miles Davis, a pioneer of 1853. Her grand father Peter Kindt was of the same immigra tion. She is the great grand daughter of Major Charles Kindt, of Pennsylvania. Her mother, Dora Kindt Elliott is a member of the first class that graduated from the Portland High School. ' Since the death of her husband, Mr. C. M. Elliott, she has taught several years in the public schools of the state. She is an industrious collector of curioa and her cabinet is probobly the best filled of any private collection in the state. C M. Elliott, father of Annette, was a printer and publisher. In January 1877 he with his associates, B. D. Crandall and A. C. McDonald, incorporated the Telegram Publishing Co., of Portland, with a capital stock of $10,000. This company commenced at that date the publication of the Evening Telegram which soon after passed under the control of the Oregonian Publishing Co., by methods to which Elliott always applied the term "pinch." MUs Annette graduated from the Hillsboro High School in iIq6 and from the Latin course of the Portland High School in 1899. She now finds congenial occupation with literary work and music and recreation with the open air work on the farm. Last summer she drove the team and operated the binder which cut 90 acres of grain on her grand mother Kindt's farm. In all these things she is most diguiSed and modest so that she numbers friends by the score, which statement is graphically verified by tbe popular vote which selected her for Queen ot the Carnival. at tbe head offli-e in Portland since be left, on tbe Monday before re quired bis personal attention at the eartit momentj.hcnoe he could not stop uotwithtanding his great do lire to do so.
