They broke the door down, shot one and clubbed 'lie oilier to insensibility and run wicked the prcmiseM for money. The third Chinaman wan mt at the cabin that night henco took no art in the fibt. The Chinaman that wan kill ed, either before he wax (dirt or alter ward eses(ed from the house, and ran into Ihe yard flinging from him his coat. It contained J35 00 all the money the Chinamen seem to have had at tht place. In the dark thin garment was over-looked, wherefore the baiters got nothing. A near reighlsir was arrested next day, but he easily established his Innocence. The theory was then advanced that he two Chinamen had long tit one another and that one had killed the other. The accused man was arrest ed and brought to Ilillaboro, but whei Deputy list. Williaiusuu, editor, makes this mention of the late meeting of the State Dairymen' Association held here the week be fore the last, and the entertainment received: The increasing interest lo dairying In Oregon is well reflected by the character of Ihe meetings of the Ore gon Dairymen's Association and the treatment accorded the association by the people of the cities or towna lu which its meetings are held. It Is a great change from the time a few years ago when the association, out of its meager funds, was compelled lo pay for the insertion of a notice of its meeting in one of the local papers of the place where it was held, and was not dismayed at a total atten uance or less than a uoson tiers ins. At the late meeting at Hillsboro the visitiug members were greeted with a band at the dcjsit and speeded on their departure in the same cheerful way. The local paper not only ad vertised the meeting liberally ,but also supplied program aud other printing without cost to the associa lion. The visitiug members found their hotel bills paid. In fact there was nothing which the citixeus of llillnboro aud Washington county could do to make the meeting suc- censful, and at the same time plea aunt for the visitors, which was not lone. The attendant was remark ably good considering the execrable weather, but there were some dairy men and fanners who might have attended but were not there.
