I hero khe met Conrad H'hulmerich whom vhe marrleil in 15 0. Immediately the young people started wed and made a home at Cold Hprins, a mining town at suit five mi lea from Placer ville, California. There they lived .or l'J years, Mr. Hchulmerich giv. ing his whole lime to mining. At the end of thai time, in 1876, Mr. Hchulinerlch with all his family came to Oregon, and bought a farm iu .South Tualatin precinct this county. The whole habits of life were changed. The miner became a farmer. Mrs. Hchulmerich's work was quite as much changed as that of her huslmud, but she ws equal to the emergency and successfully ma urged her departments on a large farm. After a lile of toll am drud ery, about ten or twelve years ago Mr. and Mrs. bchulmericb judged that they had accumulated a suffi cient store of this worlds goods to Justify them in resting from the harder forms of labor, wherefore they left the farm and moved to Hillsboro, About that time or a little later as it has proved an incurable disease fas tened itself upon the before active woman and she has been practically au Invalid for ten years. Pain and uitTering was her portion. Her sweet temper and great patience at times almost deceived her loving husband and attentive daughters in to believing that her illness was not unto death. About three months rign, though it was realized that the ond was only a question of a shoit time. The severe pains became rack ing and the agony intense. What -inrgery and medicine could do was 'lone to alloviale hut all without avail. The river had to be crossed. To this pioneer couple twelve children have been born. One died in California and two in the Oregon home leaving nine to survive with father their mothers' death. The beautiiul home of C, Rehse at Farmington was the scene of a most attractive wedding, Wednesday after noon V&t. 14. The high contracting parties were Miss Anna Alvlnaltehse and Mr. Herman Kamna. The hride's sisters, the Misses Bertha aid Amanda were bridesmaids and the Messrs. Herman K'-'hse and Dick Kamna acted as groomsmen while ilev. A. Hpleiasof Middleton pro nounced the happy words that united them in holy bonds of matrimony. The bride looked charming In a dress of light blue silk trimmed in white silks, chiffon and ribbons, and car ried a bouquet or violets ana terns. The rooms were very artistically de corated with evergreens, ferns and cut flowers. The ceremony was per formed under a canopy of cverereens bearing the Inscription "St. Valen tino" which carried out the holiday idea of that notable day. Those pre sent were near relatives and imme diate friends, who after congratula tions, sat down to an elaborate ban quet. The bride Is the eldest and ac complished daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. ftehse. (She came to this place witli her parents from the (iol",n state in 181)2 and during her sh r residence here has gained theafl.c Holland friendship of all her many acouaintanceM. The groom li a broth er of John Kamna and a resident of iilencoe where he is extensively en traged in farir.ing. He Is a man liosscssed of those sterling business qualifications which have already crowned him with success. Mr. and Mrs. II. Kamna were the recip ents of many handsome and valuable presents. They will be at home to their trlcnds after March 1st at Cllenoe, Ore. The republican central committee wid meet soon to tlx the presenta tion to the county convention and the time for holding the same. An other question to be settled is what work shal tie done by the conven tion. Home influential republicans favor holding but one convention at which a choice of delegates to the state and congressional conventions shall lie made, together with the no minations of candidates for county officers.
