David Wili-ox had been a nietula'r of the Methodist church for 70 years. Hi son Nelaon Wilcox and daughter, Mr. Wa'ton, live at Cornelius. Ly man Wilcox, another son, Jive at Mounts ndale, this county. The fun eral occurred on Sunday at Cornelius cemetery, and was largely attended by his neighbors who held him In very high esteem. The su- nreme court decides In favor of the state. Private John Spierings r., Co. II, 2d Oregon Infantry died in the hos pital at Manila March 14th,of dysen tery. Spierings was 22 years of age and unmarried. He was born at Freedom Wis.
