we commenced wading up the creek,
finding the water in many placid up

follow had wasted much time, money

M-ct. We had waded fully six milt,
finding some signs of copper, but not

rolled up in our blankets immediate

an early start was the order of things

he had made the mistake last vear.

covered the object of our search, and,
like all sM".illed highly talked-of"lost
mines," it proved a disiipMiiutmeut
o those most Inten-sted in its dis
covery. It was situated uihui tho
right side of the creek, going up. A

nsl in color as tho-e made from nil
clay. The conversion of these deso
late mounds of shale into a useful
common'ial product will be a dis
tinct industrial gain to the district,
and at the same time it w ill bring a
vast acreage of now unprofitable land
into ue cither for ngrh-ulturol or
building purpose. This is a kind of

containing mining waste within
reasonable distance of a large city
