Graham was al most unanimously elected a di rector for a term of three years and H. E. Ferrin was elected clerk for one year. The names of these two men were so sat isfactory to the taxpayers that no one was nominated to oppose either of them, although humorously-in clined persons cast a few scatter ing votes for people who were not candidates. Sixty-one votes were cast at the election. The clerk’s a n n u a l r e p o r t showed that there were 766 per sons between the ages of four and twenty years in the district, with 122 boys and 157 girL enrolled in grades above the eighth. Six male and seventeen female teachers were employed during the year, all of whom attended the teachers’ institute. Eighty three books were added to the library during the year, making a total of 1258 on hand. The three school buildings, with grounds, are valued at $58.000 and the furniture and apparatus are valued at $7,500 This prop erty is insured for $34,000 The average monthly salary of male teachers was $104.90 and that of female teachers was $69.44. The value of the taxable prop erty in the district is $1,287,650 50. While the beginning of the term found $1,075,96 on hand, the close of the term found in the treasurer’s hands $1,462.98, an increase of $387.02.
