by the Thatcher young folks,
who called in a body to offer
felicitations upon her birthday.
There were over twenty present
and a general good time ensued.
An especially enjoyable feature
of the evening was the warm
moonlit atmosphere, which made
it possible to indulge in various
games upon the spacious lawn.
Music and singing also occupied
a good part o f the evening.
Mr. Downs made taffy, and was
assisted in the pulling by all

the gathering.
Wednes
day, another party, consisting
of friends and relatives from
Forest Grove, surprised Mrs.
Downs by arriving shortly be
fore noon with well filled bas
kets. Several beautiful presents
were tendered the hostess to
gether with best wishes for
many more such birthdays. Those
present were Rev. and Mrs. Up
ton, Mrs Ed. Dixon, Miss Ethel
Dixon, and Miss Ethel Wells j
who came out from Portland.
Do you know where your

much value. It is worth con
