Mr. and Mrs. J. B. McPherson, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Langley and Mr. and i Mrs. W. M. Jackson of Hillsboro, were in Portland last Friday attending the funeral of Walter Turner, who was a schoolmate of young Jackson and Langley, having lived in the same 1 place in the East. Mr. Turner’s death was very sudden, he having been found dead in bed. H. H . Andrews of Colaway, Neb., is spending a few days in this city visit ing friends. Mr. Andrews has large interests at Baker City, and while at tending to business in that place, took the opportunity to run over to Forest Grove. We are deeply indebted to Harrison Heisler on Gales Creek, for fifteen of the finest trout it has ever been our good fortune to eat. H e in company with his father’s hired man last Sunday caught 65 of the speckled beauties. A birthday surprise party was given Tuesday afternoon in honor of little Helen Deckert. Guests to the number of nine were present and enjoyed the good hospitalty of the little hostess. Mrs. Edward Ward assisted in enter taining the little ones. Mrs. L. A. Watt and daughter, Miss Carry, of Forest Grove, mother and sis ter of A. B. Watt, visited at the latter’s home here last Friday until Tuesday.
