Died ï i i i i William A. Britton, who recently moved to this city from Gales Creek, died at his home Monday afternoon at 4 p. m. He was bom in the 40’s in Tennessee and when the Civil War broke out joined the Union army and did valiant service. He had been ailing from heart trouble for some time. He was recently taken to Portland hospital and treated but with no apparent benefit; finally he was brought back to his home here and after a few days of suffering, he passed away. In 1899 he was married to Mrs. Katie Sumner, who survives him. By a former marriage, there remain three children to mourn his loss: Myrian, Mary and Herbert. The funeral was held from his late residence Wednesday morning at nine o’clock, Rev. I,. F. Belknap, of the M. E. church, officiating. The inter ment was at the Gales Creek cemetery. All are invited. Wednesday, March 22, at 10 a. m. will be held a Foreign Missionary Con ference with the chief address by Dr. C. H. Patton, the Home secretary of the American Board. Dr. Patton comes across the country from Boston to see the coast and to tell us some thing of the great work in which he has a very important share. Pastor.
