Wants More Light A co m m u n ica tio n : . . . . . , God said let there be light and there *as light. There are a few “ Non- Natives,” who cannot see their way clear since Mr. Purdin has with drawn from the senatorial race. There seems to be a cloud hovering over the trans action that partially obstructs the poli tical vision of a few democrats and populists who are not “ native sons” even though there are but a few of us gathered together, so should light be given unto us also. We are democrats from principle and cannot see our way clear to vote for a fusion state senator, who we are informed by reliable dem ocrats is pledged to vote for a republi can U. S. senator on a pinch. The pinch is already in evidence and there are a few loyal democrats who want a ray of light that will guide us clear of the pinch. We are also informed that Mr. Sewell, who is a candidate for state senator on the union ticket put $1000.00 into the union campaign funds. If the above are facts, to a few ‘tenderfeet,” it seems as though Mr. Sewell you are paying rather high for ¡an office that would not net you over | $240.00. Can it be possible that any part of |this money is republican campaign oney? Certainly not, as republican {campaign bootle seldom finds its way ¡into the democratic camp. Give us light. Democrats, populists, cialists, republicans and even follow ers of Victoria Woodhull, if there be any in Washington County, we want fight as we have a right to know where r. Sewell stands when he is called up- to vote for U. S. senator. Now as Mr. Sewell is a “ Native Son” ?e believe him to be a gentleman of he highest type who will unflinchingly lanswer a few questions put to him, in pe same good spirit which they are sked by members of his own party, swing light into darkness and squar- himself with current reports, so a few people who were not “ bom ere” can fore-see where he stands, vhen his vote is called. If Mr. Sewell would vote for a repu blican for U. S. senator, in any event pinch” or otherwise, how can he support of loyal democrats. We spe the reports are false and take this ay to get light. Answer by yes or 1- Will you, Mr. Sewell, if elected |state senator, vote for Mr. Mitchell for S. senator in any event or under sy circumstances, if he is a candidate? 2. Would you votefor any republi- for U. S. senator? 2. Did you consult with republi- leaders in regard to your candida- c>’ before Mr. Purdin with drew?
