Ben Haynes is employed by Mr. Skel A car of wheat was wrecked Saturday evening by the trestle giving away under the end of the Climax Mill switch. The wheat was recovered without much loss but the car is badly damaged. The en gine room was slightly damaged by the car falling against it. No one was hurt but the brakeman barely had time to jump before it went down. S. B. Huston and Deputy District At torney Bagley were transacting legal business at Laurel Monday. J. W. Morgan made a trip to Salem Monday to convey L. A. Batchelder to the asylum. Voung America is busy laying plans for the appropriate celebration of hallow- 'een. Miss Mary Brant is staying w ith her aunt, Mrs. Kraber, of Carson Heights. Mr. William Polland resumed his stud ies at school after an absence of almost eight months from the schoolroom. Mr. Kauffman is expected home in a few days from Northern California where he has been at work in a sawmill since last March* Little Hattie Newman will make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Vogt, of Portland. The parishoners of the German Evan gelical church are talking of building a new* parsonage. Mr, E. , 1 , Godman, of the Tigardville Milling Co, is afflicted like “ Job of Old” but at last report was getting better. Mr. Adam Shares has been quite ill with heart trouble for the past week. Rumor says, that Billy the butcher has taken unto himself a w ife. Miss Lucy Gault is making good pro gress in her studies at school. The sale at Norman’s, on Oct. 23 , went at a good advantage, everything being sold except the team. Any one wanting a good farm team would do well by calling on C. F. Tigard, the auction eer.
