C O R R E C T IO N O F A R T IC L E T he a rticle e n titled “ Increase of D ru n k en n ess” in la st w eek’s issue of th is new spaper should have been c re d ite d to the C hristian H erald and not to the C hristian Science H erald. Too Late to Classify - |T H E tem ptation to feel, with I H am let, th a t “ the tim e Is out of Joint'’ la common to m any of a rth 'a Inhabitants today. And un- ,i.' lunatdy, gone tim es with less jrovecation, som etim es with more, mch has often been the opinion In be past. Meg norm ally desire safety, stability, security, and have looked for them In hum an governm ents, per mits, Investm ents, position, profee- tlons, and achievem ents of all kinds. Hut have they found these things? So! Not In any m aterial plans or possessions, however hum anly wise ar good, h a re perm anent Bafety and lecurlty been found. Certainly not In what we call our tim es have these been experienced. And th a t makes ill the more Interesting a statem ent which has stood In Isaiah for more than two thousand years: “ Wisdom ind knowledge shall be the stability if thy tim es,'' he said. Not gold, not arm am ents, not organizations and unified m ateriality, but “ wisdom and knowledge” alone bring s ta b ility ! , . . T rue knowledge, really helpful knowledge, consists In understanding spiritual and eteru al facts. If all men everyw here would consciously reflect the wisdom of divine Mind, the Intelligence and Integrity, the far-seeing Judgm ent and complete kindness of th a t Mir.d, there would be no m ore confusion and distress, no more hate and fear, no more w ar fare and Insecurity. B t all men are not consciously doing this, nor do the m ajority seem yet ready to do so. Therefore, those of us who are In a m easure spiritu ally ready, m ust do cur part particularly well, th a t we may lead the world to sec th a t it Is not prim arily our tim es but our thinking, th a t la wrong. He who dwells on high, who h a b it ually keeps thought above the sordid ind m aterial, the dishonest and the low, dwells In the divinely m ental itm ospbers above the fears and dis turbances of so-called m ortal mind. He who understands even partially that God Is om nipotent, the one and anly real power, and th a t God Is knowable and available, has In this understanding a sure defence, a rock uf stability. The fear of losing good, the belief in fluctuating good, produces a sense of Insecurity, begets instability. The Individual who understands th a t the cne changeless God Is the everlasting source of all tru e life, happiness, pro vision, security, and stability knows oo fear. . . . How safe and undisturbed was Je- <us In spite of the great disturbances, Ignorance, and poverty which also sharactertzed his tim es! Was not this because of the sp iritual conviction expressed In his statem ent, “ I and my F a th er a re one” ? His spiritual wisdom, hts selfless, loving knowl edge of good, gave him a sense of his uwu and every m an's eternal security is an Individual Idea In Mind, fo r ever safe from harm . Today, m ankind m ust learn th a t not In m atter but In Spirit Is true safety; th a t it Is hate and fear, self ishness and m ateriality th a t make tor Instability, and th a t love and wise co-operation, fearlessness, and Intelligent helpfulness bring ceourlty. Learning this, they will begin to ap preciate as a present possibility the heaven defined on page 687 of the C hristian Science textbook, "Science and H ealth with Key to the Scrip tu res" by Mary Baker Eddy. thus.
