He can lay hold of man and transform him. The gospel is the most hopeful message in the world, and the most needed mess ige, for it never suffers man to acquiesce in his condition, or allow him to despair. "M an’s extremity is God’s opportunity.” Where all else has failed God can appeal to the mo tive of love and win man’s response by the exhibition o f His own love. “ Oh, ’twas love; ’twas wondrous love! Estacada Christian Perhaps one o f the most interesting incidents recorded in the Old Testa ment is the one chosen for the Bible school Sunday. Manasseh, one o f the most corrupt kings possible, had been on the throne o f Judah for 55 years. The worship o f Jehovah had ceased and the temple was allowed to fall into ruin. He was not only idola trous himself, but he lead the people into the most hideous and licentious idolatry possible to believe o f any nation. He was followed on the throne by his young grandson, Jo- siah, who proved to be one o f the best kings to sit upon the throne of Judah. His big job, o f course, was to undo the wrongs committed by his grandfather. One o f his first acts was to thoroughly renovate and re pair the temple that the service of Jehovah might be restored as it was in the days o f David and Solomon, but the book of the law o f Jehovah was lost. While they were cleaning out the debris that fairly filled the temple Hilkiah, the high priest, found some thing o f tremendous importance and interest to the king. The subject of the lesson for Sunday is “ What Hil kiah Found in the Temple.” What was it? This question will be an swered Sunday morning. Come, you will he interested in what was found in the temple. The sermon theme for the 11 a. m. message will be “ The Government and Character o f Jehovah.” The Christian Endeavorers will mi grate to Gladstone to visit the C. E. there Sunday evening, and also to hear Evangelist Teddy W. Leavitt, who is holding evangelistic services at the Christian church. The young peo ple will gather at the church and leave for Gladstone at 5 o ’clock on Sunday afternoon. Transportation facilities have been provided for all who wish to go.-Hugh Foster, pastor. when consistent with DR. P. G. BROWN, Demist Willamette Building, Oregon City Entrance Opposite Post O ffice Your attention is called to the sub ject for next Sunday. The morning theme at 11 o ’clock will be “ The Man and His World.” In the evening at 8 o ’clock (note the change in the hour) the theme will be “ The King of Glory.” The Sunday school meets at 1U o'clock in the morning and is a very busy place for one hour’s time. The Epworth League meets at 7:15 in the evening. An urgent in vitation is extended to any who will worship with us.— C. T. Cook, pastor. Sandy Lutheran As the flowers follow the sun and silently hold up their petals to be tinted and enlarged by its shining, so must we, if we should know the joy o f God, hold our souls, wills, hearts and minds, still before Him whose voice commands, whose love warms, whose truth makes fair our whole being. God speaks for the most part in such silence only. If the soul be full of tumult and jangling voices. His voice is little likely to be heard. God's love, grace, goodness and mercy is the spiritual dew that falls from heaven, refreshing and reviving the parched soul. Should man alone, God’s foremost creature, be so vile as not to’ raise his head in faith, devotion and wor ship toward his Creator? English services next Sunday at 10:30 a. m. You are welcome to worship with us.— F. T. Schoen, pastor.
