THE
JOB
A destructive fire which started in
the oil house at the LaDee Logging
camp Saturday evening at about 7
o’clock consumed all the bunk houses
and the employes were without shel
ter that night and were obliged to
come to Estacada and were taken
into Portland Sunday morning.
The dining hall and cook house
was saved, also some o f the cottages
occupied by families.
There were about one hundred men
employed at the camp, who
were
thrown out o f work, and it is not
known when operations will be re
sumed.
No estimate was given as to the
loss incurred. Many o f the men lost
their clothing and personal effects,
amounting in some instances to $200
per man, it is said.
The destroyed buildings are to be
replaced immediately, lumber having
been shipped this week and other
material is bein assembled as rapidly
as possible.

Rally Program at M. E. Church
The rally day program at the M. E.
church last Sunday morning, entitled
“ The Gateway o f Tom orrow,” was
especially interesting and entertain
ing. Each class in the Sunday school
had a part and the little folks did
well, nothwithstanding the short time
in preparation.
A fence was built
across the altar with a gate, which
all entered as they came to their part
in the program. The decorations
were very pretty and the program
was carried out beautifully.

Cradle Roll which is under the super
vision of Mrs. W. E. Buell, had a part
in the exercises and each one o f the

a number o f the babies were there
and most o f them were on their good
behavior, hut not quite enough so far
