The dining hall and cook house was saved, also some o f the cottages occupied by families. There were about one hundred men employed at the camp, who were thrown out o f work, and it is not known when operations will be re sumed. No estimate was given as to the loss incurred. Many o f the men lost their clothing and personal effects, amounting in some instances to $200 per man, it is said. The destroyed buildings are to be replaced immediately, lumber having been shipped this week and other material is bein assembled as rapidly as possible. Twenty-one kegs of nails went up on the train Wednes day morning. A crew o f men are engaged ir. building a road out from Camp 1 1-2 which when completed will ,.!!ow ad ditional logging operations, and will also mean the employment o f a larger force o f men. While the fire would not have d - layed work very long, ordinarily, it is believed that logging operations will not be resumed to any great ex tent until after the first o f the year. By the time the new camp is com pleted it w ill about the usual time fo r closing fo r the holidays. IN J A N N IN G S FILM Phyllis Haver, golden haired and blue-eyed, learned many years be fore Anita Loos made her great dis covery, that gentlemen prefer blondes. Providence intended that Phyllis should be a magnet fo r mas culinity wherever it is found. So it was natural that she should find her way to pictures, or rather that pictures should find their way to her. And it was also natural that Paramount should select Phyllis to play Mayme, the irresistible woman o f the world, in “ The W ay o f All Flesh,” Emil Jannings’ first Am eri can starring production, which will be the feature at the Liberty Theatre at Estacada Sunday and Monday. Miss Haver, whose best role up to the Jannings pictures was in “ What Price G lory” was born in Douglas, Kansas. The fam ily name was O 'H aver but the O went overboard when Mack Sennett discovered this young beauty and made her famous via his comedies. One o f her out standing early dramatic roles was in "T h e Christian.” Phyllis’ initial pic ture fo r Paramount was "S in ger Jim M cKee.” H er most recent work has been in “ The Nervous W reck,” “ No Control” and "Blonde fo r a Night.” KELSO B A Z A A R GOES O V E R ; F IF T Y D O LLAR S EAR NE D The Rebekah benefit show at the Liberty Theatre Tuesday night Kelso bazaar went over nicely Sat brought out a large audience. E. church last Sunday morning, entitled “ The Gateway o f Tom orrow,” was especially interesting and entertain ing. Each class in the Sunday school had a part and the little folks did well, nothwithstanding the short time in preparation. A fence was built across the altar with a gate, which all entered as they came to their part in the program. The decorations were very pretty and the program was carried out beautifully. The Cradle Roll which is under the super vision of Mrs. W. E. Buell, had a part in the exercises and each one o f the 18 members received a diploma, J. G. Dayman, Sunday school superintend ent, making the presentations. Quite a number o f the babies were there and most o f them were on their good behavior, hut not quite enough so far the program to be carried out as ar ranged. There was a large audience and all enjoyed the program. Rev. Cook gave a Thanksgiving sermon in the evening.
