SERVICES COUNTY GUNSHOT WOUND PROVES FATAL TO YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS TO ATTEND MEETING Friday evening, July 10, the Eas tern Clackamas Community Club will entertain the organizations of Oregon City, Milwaukie, Oswego, Molalla and Colton in Estacada.. Arrangements have been made by the committee in charge for a dinner at the Estacada Hotel at 7 P. M. at 50 cents per plate. A fter the dinner the gathering will adjourn to the pavilion in the Estacada pari: where a program will be given. Numbers will be furnished by the various communi ties and the Estacada Band will be present. All are requested to attend this meeting. LOWER EAGLE CREEK i Î3 BUILD NrJ The Estacada Siate Bank has established headquarters in the Masonic building during the erec- ingtion of their new fireproof home on the present bank site at the cor ner of Second and Broadway. This new home is to be a two- story fireproof building 25 by 66 feet constructed o f tile and light brown brick. The bank will occu py all o f the lower floor which will greatly increase the space and fa cilitate the present excellent ser vice to the patrons. Safety de posit boxes will be instalied in the new fireproof vault and the build ing will be modern in every detail’ Two modern apartments will oc cupy the upper floor. The work o f moving the present building commenced today (Thurs day). This building will be moved to the corner o f Second and Currin streets where it is understood it will be remodeled. Most o f the work on the new building will be done by local peo ple under the supervision and direc tion of H. C. Stephens, president of the bank. Faith inthe growth o f the com munity, the rapid growth in the business handled by the bank and a demand for more space and fa cilities has brought about this new building. 22 Hubert Michaels, 22, o f Terre Haute, Indiana, who had been ut the Good Samaritan hospital since June 20 with a gunshot wound in his abdomen, died Saturday. The weather was ideal and the ac tivities as scheduled for the daw started promptly at 10:0(1 o’clock when the Estacada Band hoys dressed in their natty white uni forms began their first selection un der the direction o f their able lead er, F. E. Bushnell. The orders entering the corn- potitivo drill were the N. O. W. and the Eagle Creek Grange. The X. O. \V. team was smartly attired in the colorsof the order and car ried stall's while the Eagle Creek Grange team appeared in white uniforms and wearing red, white and blue hats and carrying small American flags. According to the decision o f the judges , composed of Mesdames A. W. Botkin, T. B. Young, S. E. Woster and Miss L. C. llowe, the cup was awarded to the N. O. W. team. The grange made a very creditable showing and deserve much praise for the excellent spirit shown in the contest. Following this the crowd ad- journed to the park where a patri- 0tjc program was given with Mayor H. C Stephens presiding. A short DefcnsoTcst Day program was held with Lester Townsened in charge, and the oath was administered to all present. The national salute boomed forth at the first stroke o f 12. The score being 16 to 5 in favor of Barton One of- the most enjoyable feat ures o f the entiro day was the un- urually fine selections rendered by the local band. A dance was held in the afternoon and evening which was greatly enjoyed by those tak ing part.
