Mrs. Harry Kitching has been very ill at her home fo r sometime. S. E. Wooster was in Sandy last Tuesday on business. Mrs. H. B. Suyder received a message Monday stating that her brother residing in Mechanicsburg, Pa., was very ill. Kola Neis o f Portland spent Tuesday in Estacada and purchased some material for use in a cannery. J. W. Shaft'ord, Courtney Shafford and two other men drove out from Portland last Tuesday to inspect a local sawmill. Mrs. Vernie Duus is visiting in Tillamook, Oregon, this week. € k Portland Electric Power Company Hugh Ferre, and Merle Nelson drave to Oregon City, Sunday. Willard Wallace is home from the hospital but will not be able to return to school for some time. Mrs. Gus Whitehead spent all last week at the home o f her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jens Pedersen. Mr. Pedersen is still improving. Mr. and Mrs. Lizberg accompa- ■ nied their daughter, Miss Alma Lizberg, our primary teacher, back .o Barton , Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Hal Gibson, drove I to Oregon City one day last week, | bringing Willard Wallace home from the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Ferrel drove to Estacada, Sunday. z The G. H. Stone family are all ' sick with the “ flu", Mr. Stone's i sister, Mrs. Schenck o f Portland, j came out and spent the week-end I with them. Mrs. H. F. Odell is also on the I sick list. J. W. Nolan and wife are moving I ,o Portland in the near future, and their son, Arlington and family are | noving out here to look after his father’s place. The “ surprise party” last week was a joint one, including Ray For- [ man and Franklin Gibson, as both j boys’ birthdays came on the same day. Mr. M. A. Nelson is said to be j our new Telegram carrier. The men o f Barton reorganized the ball team. They are going to renovate the grounds. To help pay expenses a dance will be given by the club soon. Miss Alice M Hansen spent the veck-end at her home in Portland, ilso seeing “ Pavlowa” dance. The “ Good W ill” Club met at the home o f Mrs Bessie Wilson last Thursday. Their next meeting will be held in the hall, and it will be an all day meeting.. The election o f new officers will be held then. Important subjects on which he touched were the in vesting o f money, avoiding specula tion, the farming and the banker, foreign banking, and the impor tance o f saving. Students may now write their essays on any phase of the banking business. During the series o f banking talks the high school students have learned many things which will be helpful to them throughout life. Last Friday noon the students of the high school held a rally on the streets to and from school, for the purpose of advertising the Canby game. They marched down Main street and crossed to Broadway where they stopped and gave a few = yells, after which they went back to C the high school. ' Friday evening at the High School Gym, the two home teams met the boys’ and girls’ teams from Canby. The girl’s team o f Canby was vic torious, the score being 24-30, in their favor. The regular Estacada team, which is composed o f the fo l lowing players: Avis Cadonau, R. c- d rene Hayden, J. C.; Irene Kaake, F.; Goldie Brown, F .; Erma Jones, G.; and Florence J. Reed, G. made a fine showing, even ifthey were beaten. Edna Bates was Sub-Cen ter and Myrtle Hall was Sub-Guard. Irene Kaake made the largest indi vidual score. Our boys’ team beat Canby with a score o f 20 to 18. The regular team is composed the following mem bers: Jim Jennings, C., who made the largest personal score; Dan F.; Ted Saling, G, and Maurice Bullard, G.; Harvey Woodworth, G. On March 0 the two teams from Corbett will play on the home floor. This is the last game o f the season, so be sure and come, for you will miss a good game if you are not there.
