Wallace’s hand is not healing and he has had to go to Portland hospital for treatment. The curtains made by the Good Will Club are up and give our Mhool a very homey look. The dance given by the grange was well attended and enjoyed very much by all. L. M. Peterson has been appointed as our new deputy. He is taking H. F. Gibson’s place. J. Sommers has been ill but is improving. Mr. and Mrs. V. Meier, who have been away on a six weeks tour have returned to their home. On the way back they visited Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Turner at Glendale, Ore. Supt. Brenton Vedder and Mr. Carlton visited the Barton school last week. As it is considered one of the best rural schools o f its size in the county, the community may feel proud o f it fo r it is fine build- ing. Earl Odell leaves for Bridal Veil soon as he will be employed there, He had been working at Scappose. Mrs. Dibble, Mrs. Forman and J. Pederson are getting better.. A “ Valentine shower" was held at school fo r the pupils last Friday. They are now working on a basket social and program, which will be given in the near future. We have just heard that Fred Turner is recovering the use o f his left side to a small degree. Miss Alice M. Hansen, attended the opera in Portland last week, .also spending the week-end at her home. GEORGE ITEMS L HÏCADA NEWS Our school is allowed five dele gates to O. A. C. during the Educa tional Exposition of February 21, 22 and 23. Those chosen to represent Estacada were Mary Alice Reed, Irene Hayden, Corrine Trullinger, Harvey Woodworth, and Ted Saling. Last Friday the Websterian so ciety gave an interesting program, several o f the numbers were con cerning Lincoln. Copies o f the Hicada were distributed the same afternoon. Last Thursday Mr. Carlton of the Extension Department of the U. o f O. spoke to the high school. He urged th e , students to choose their life work, and then pick out 1 the college which could best train them. He defended the small high school, saying that if a student tried he could do just as well in it as in the largest schools. Afterwards Mr. Carlton told the senior class about different things, such as callege entrance require ments, opportunities in different lines o f work and the training re quired.
