If that is to be their de fense the judge might say as an English judge did, when counsel for the accused claimed that his client was suffering from klepto mania: “ We.I that is the disease I am here to treat and prescribe for.’’ _____________ The members of the various college graduating classes thru- out the country are now begin ning to realize that graduation is rightly termed Commence ment Day. COME SEE FOR YOURSELF Bartholomew & Lawrence L O G A N R ID G E James Warren Barr, who was killed in an auto accident last Saturday, June 14, was born November 28, 1888, in Roane county, West Virginia. In 1906 his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Barr brought him to Oregon, settling first at Currinsville and later moving to Estacada, where he attended school. For some years he was engaged in mer cantile work for the Eastern Clackamas Supply Company and other firms. When the ¡war broke out he enlisted in the 13th company of the 20th Engineers, and served eighteen months overseas. After his return home he got a clerkship in the Port land postoffice which he held at the time of his death. August 21. 1923, he was married to Miss Edna Purkey of Portland. The funeral services were held first in the I. O. O. F. hall last Monday afternoon under the auspices of that order to which he belonged. Then the body was taken to the Christian church where the Rev. A. Demoy con ducted services and preached the sermon, paying a touching trib ute to the deceased. The inter ment was in the Odd Fellows cemetery according to t h e i r ritual, and under the direction of Joseph E. Gates, mortician of Estacada. A delegation of Elks from Oregon City attended, as Mr. Barr was a member of that lodge. The large number of friends present and many beau tiful floral offerings showed the esteem in which he was held in this community. The utmost sympathy of all goes out to his widow and surviving relatives.
