% Page Two Additional Brevities U. S. Morgan drove to Port land yesterday. % Mesdames James Smith and R. G. McCall were Portland visitors yesterday. The Rev. J. 0. Staats o f Port land, will preach Sunday in the Christian church both morning and evening. < Dr. and Mrs. H. V. Adix and their daughter Jean, have re turned from a trip of two weeks by auto through California and Nevada. Gresham Outlook. Mrs. Maud Graham with her daughter Erma, Mrs. Rose Tison and daughters Hazel and Mrs. Bernard Dolan, all o f Portland, were recent visitors at the home o f Mrs. Margaret Schock. The W. C. T. U. will have an all day meeting at the home of Mrs. A. C. Upton, June 23rd. Lunch will be served in the grove and an interesting pro gram will be rendered. All la dies are welcome. Mrs. K. Dowden, o f Alamo, B. C., who has been visiting her friend Mrs. Irving Smith, re turns this week to her home. This is in the mining district and Mrs. Dowden thinks that mining is a very fascinating oc cupation. She says the present rate o f exchange between Amer ican and Canadian money is working a great hardship for those who have to send to the states for supulies, and this is hindering business. She is an American but finds the Cana dians very congenial, and on all holidays the Stars and Stripes float to the breezes along side ot the Union Jack. A n Interesting Vacation Trip Mr. and Mrs. William Dale have visiting with them, Mrs. Dale’ s niece and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Miller of Pennsylvania. They have come all the way through in their Es sex car, starting last October and driving through the south to Florida where they spent most o f the winter and the remainder in Cuba. In April they left Florida, driving through Texas, Arizona, and California, arriving here June' 8th. They intend to rest for some weeks visiting their friends in various parts of the state, after which they will drive north to Seattle, Vancouv er, B. C., the Alberta country, and thence to the Yellowstone Park. From there they will go south to Salt Lake City, and east through Cheyenne to Pike's Peak, Colorado Springs, Denver and on home, making various pleasure trips to historical spots on their way. They drive slow ly and see what is to be seen, re maining a day or a week at a place, as their fancy dictates.
