Crain, foreman of the N e w s , was in Portland Saturday on business. Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Wagner and Miss Ida Wagner were Sat urday visitors to Portland. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Stephens returned Sunday afternoon from a visit to the State Fair at Salem. Mrs. B. 0. Sarver was opera ted last Monday at St. Vincent’s hospital and is reported as doing nicely. Mrs. C. W. Seidell of Spring- water, left Saturday morning for Nampa. Idaho, where she will visit with friends. The Estacada Meat Co. shipped Tuesday a carload of fat cattle to Portland, representing an out lay of $1,600 among the farmers of this vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. George Hislop, who have been visiting their daughter, Mrs. 0. E. Syron in Estacada, left for their home in Portland last Saturday, R. E. Moore, who has been working for Reed & Shibley dur ing the past spring and summer, left for Portland Tuesday, where he has a position in a garage. • \ EA S TER N C LA C K A M A S The news agency formerly in the Krigbaum confectionary, has been taken over by V. W. Hauser. Harry H. Guild on the circula tion department of the Portland Journal, paid Estacada a business visit Tuesday. Mrs. J. F. Lovelace, B. 0. Sarver and S. E. Wooster were in the Estacada Saturday con tingent for the metropolis. Miss Jessie Cox the Red Cross F i e l d Secretary f o r Oregon, Washington and Idaho, spent the week end with Mrs. Ida Holder. Reed & Shibley have received a carload of hollow tile for their new garage building, and are busy unloading and hauling it up to their lot. The ladies of the W. C. T. U. will meet at the home of Mrs. J. P. Woodle, Thursday, October 14, at 2:30 p.m. Everybody will be welcome. A. G. Ames arrived for a visit with his family Saturday morn ing. He reports having bagged a timber wolf and four bob cats this last trip. Lonny Barkley arrived here from Easton, Wash., and is stay ing with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Mills, and attend ing High School in which he is a sophomore. Mrs. U. S. Morgan with Mrs. Harry Morgan and baby went to Portland S a t u r d a y morning, whence the latter will go to Rose- burg where her husband, Dr. Harry Morgan, is now located practicing dentistry.
