Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Stephens drove to Portland Saturday. The bank looks like a new building in its fresh coat of paint. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Moore were out camping and huckleberrying last week. Mrs. Lee Bronson and son Bev erly arrived Tuesday afternoon from Portland. Miss Richards from Portland is taking Mrs. Pimm’ s place while the latter is in the hospital. Mesdames E. E. and C. C. Sal- rng departed for a trip to the ‘metropolis Monday morning. The laundry agency has been changed from the Krigbaum con fectionery to D. B. Bass’ barber shop. Miss Gladys Kandel is clerking at the Morgan store in which her father has just purchased an in terest. The State Fair take* p’ace next week at Salem, beginning Mon day and continuing the remainder o f the week. EASTERN CLACKAMAS NEWS Miss Stella Oliver of Portland, spent the week end in Estacada as the guest o f Mr. and Mrs. Upton H. Gibbs. Russell Reed, Chester Womer, Joe Demoy and Albert Lichthorn left for the O. A. C. Saturday, which opened Monday. M. J. Kerkes is moving into the house on Upper Main St. be longing to Matt Lonsberry, and just vacated by Mrs. John Dun- seath. E. T. Mass, o f Oregon City, democratic candidate for county sheriff, was looking a f'er his political fences in town last Sat urday. Dr. and Mrs. L. A. Wells have gone fora visit to Seattle, driv ing their car. They left their children here in care of Mrs. Anna K. Morton. Ken Bartlett arrived at New York last Saturday on his return from t h e Olympic games. Be- sides being at Antwerp he visited Paris and. London. We regret to learn that Grover Krigbaum has been obliged to return to St. Vincent’s hospital for further treatment, as the bones in his leg did not knit. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snyder w ere staying at the hotel Esta cada two or three days last week, while the floors of their house were being painted and drying. The house adjoining F<ed Bar tholomew’ s residence, which was rented by J. C. Hillman, has been bought by Mr. and Mrs. John Durs ath, who have moved into it.
