The Standard Oil Company in it?. July bulletin attempts to an swer every phase o f the question uppermost in the minds o f mo torists and consumer. These are some o f the state ments i n explanation o f the shortage: Five years ago there were in the Pacific Coast States 239,000 motor vehicles and about 3,000 tractors. Today there are more than 780,000 motor vehicles and at least 25,000 tractors. California will produce this year about 100,000,000 barrels. The Pacific coast will consume about 110,000,000 barrels. The 10.000,000 barrel difference must be drawn from reserve stocks. Reserve stocks o f crude oil have diminished from 58,500,000 in 1915 to 26,600,000 on May 31, 1920, the lowest figure in ten vears. There are 3,157 more wells in California than there were five years ago. The wells o f 1915 had an average daily production o f 40.96 barrels, those o f 1920, 29.64 barrels. With an increase o f over 3.000 wells, daily production has increased from 250,IKK) bar rels to only 274,000 barrels. How’s This?
