OFFICERS Last Saturday evening was a gala night for the local I.O.O.F. Lodge when it was visited by District Deputy Grand Master H. S. O B IT U A R Y Margaret V. Wolfe who died June 30, 1920, at the home of her brother, J. W. Ellsworth of Boring, was the daughter of Gideon and Lucretia Ellsworth. She was born April 2, 1877, and was 43 years, 2 months and 28 days old at the time of her death. She was twjce married, the first time t o Arthur Woolfolk by whom she had a son Eldon Wool- tolk, who lives in Portland. Her second marriage to S. E Wolfe took place only last November. She was a resident o f Estacada for about eight years. Besides her husband and a son she leaves three brothers and a sister, R. E. Ellsworth of Portland, J. W. Ellsworth o f Boring, Harry B. Ellsworth of Altoona, Wash., and Mrs. Della Parker o f Sanger, California. Dr. R. G. McCall’s new house in Terrace addition across from Dr. L. A. W ells’ residence, is sufficiently along that he is mov ing his household goods into it. E stacada , O regon T hursday J uly 15, 1920 Family Reunion W ell Known Resident Passes A happy event occurred at Salem when there was a reunion of the family o f Mrs. L. E. Marrs of 1363 North Church Street Sat urday, July 12th. The occasion was the celebration of the 82nd •birthday of Mrs. Marrs, who was a pioneer, coming to Oregon in 1850. • She is a sister of the late R. M Wade, who founded the R. M Wade Hardware Co. Also o f W H. H. Wade, who has the dis tinction o f being the oldest set tier in Eastern ClackamasCounty She has resided in Salem for 26 years. Those present were Mrs. W. J. Lewellen. of Salem; Mrs. Wm. Spurlin and daughter, Francis, o f Harrisburg, O re.; Mr. and Mrs. L. Hale and daughter Ethel, o f Estacada, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Currin and daughter Mar garet, o f Corvallis, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Currin and daughter Dora, of Estacada, Ore; Mrs. 1. S. Co'- lins and son Sidwell, o f Spokane, W ash.; Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Asch- enbrenner and children of Co vina, California; Miss Ellen Cur rin. who lives with her mother, and is a teacher in the Salem schools; Mrs. Floyd Pounder, a granddaughter, of the Dalles, Oregon, and W. H. H. Wade, a brother of Estacada, Oregon. This is the first time that all have been gathered together since childhood days, and was a very joyous occasion. A long time resident o f this end o f the county, passed away Wednesdey morning, July 11, a f ter a lingering illness o f about a year, Robert*. Adolphus Wilcox. He was born seventy three years ago in North Carolina, and at the age o f three years his family moved to Virginia, where he lived till cowing to Oregon in 1872. He settled at Currinsville and later resided in Garfield and Springwater. Six months ago he came to Estacada to make his home with his son Roy. His wife died 8 years ago. The fu neral took place this afternoon at 2 p. m. in Mt. Zion Church, in the cemetery o f w hich he was buried, the Rev. J. F. Dunlop o f ficiating. Of the nine children born to him seven survive, who are W. A. Wilcox, Gerald Wilcox, l*oy Wilcox, Mrs. C. E. Kilgore all o f Estacada, Mrs. Lillian Close o f Vancouver, Wash, Guy Wilcox o f Eagle Creek and Mrs. Waldo Koellermeier o f Portland, all o f whom attended the funeral. DIED At the Good Samaritan hospi tal Portland, July 12, after an in testinal operation, Jack the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Kilgore. The funeral sei vices were held in the Finlay under taking parlors and the remains taken to the <remato»ium to be be cremated. The bereaved parents have the sincere sympathy of their many friends in this vicinity. Dance Scheduled There will be a dance in the pavilion on Saturday July 31, under the auspices of the United Artisans. B IR T H D A Y P A R T Y Wednesday being the fbur- teenth birthday^of Leta Possen, she gave a party to a number of her girl friends. They had a merry time visiting, dancing and playing games until 10 p. m., when refreshments were served, the being a delicious birthday cake mede by Mrs. Possen specially for the oc casion. She is going to es cort her class in Domestic Sci ence to the Chatauqua at Glad stone tomorrow. • Mrs. C. A. Jacques of Garfield, is having a visit from a friend who is a tearlrer at St. Helen’s Hall, Portland. Yesterday was Mrs. Jacques’ birthday and to mark the event she entertained a a few friends! $1.50 P er Y ear THIRD DEGREE Tuesday night the Estacada Masonic Lodge conferred t h e third degree on E. LeRoy Myers o f Eagle Creek. Mr. Myers is travelling freight and passenger agent for the P. R. L. & P. Co. and very popular along its lines. As evidence o f this, about a hun dred Masons from various Port land lodges attended the* func tion, many o f whom had worked for many years with Mr. Meyers. They came in two special coaches. The work was conducted by Worshipful Master R. R. Robley of the local lodge, who is also an employe o f the company, and who presided with dignity and impressiveness. After the cere monies wpre concluded light rer- freshmems were served and a social time followed. BIRTHS To Mr. and Mrs. Forest J. Schultz o f Eagle Creek Ore., Ju ly 3, 1920, a daughter, Dorothy May. To Mr. and Mrs Benjamin O. Anderson o f Eagle Creek, Ore., July 6. 1920, a son, Raymond Claude. In both cases Dr. R Mors** was the attending physician. Prize Trophy The prize won by the Estacada community float at the Rose fes tival is on exhibition in the bank window. It is a sterling siivet- cup about twelves inches high o f graceful design. On one side is engraved a laurel wreath while around the base the inscription reads “ 1920 Portland Rose Fes tival Grand Parade ” and “ Paint Oil and Varnish Club Trophy.’ ’ Christian Church There will I k * preaching at this church next Lord’s Day, both morning and evening. This will be a freewill offering and a free will attendance, only those pres ent who want lo come, only tho-e give who feel they want to give.
