Thursday, July 1, 1920 EASTERN CLACKAMAS NEWS Mrs. A. M. Hicks o f Wasco. Ore., who was visiting the J. M. Meltons last week, was driven by the latter as far as Portland, Sunday, on her way home. Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Wagner returned Thursday evening from Tidewater, where they had been visiting the form er’s broth er and his family. LOCAL BREVITIES AND NEWS I ! LMS L. H. Hubbard, who was con nected with the lath mill, has severed his connection with it and returned to Portland. Fred Bartholomew moved his house hold goods Monday. Mrs. M. H. Evans was in town Saturday a n d S u n d a y . Her friends were glad to see her look ing so well, as when she left Esta- cada, some months ago, she was in very poor health. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Evanson, who were married about two weeks ago at Fort Dodge, Iowa, arrived here Friday evening, and went out to the Clear Creek Lum ber camp, where Mr. Evanson is employed as bookkeeper. Swiss g o a t s importecT from Toggenberg are now supplying the northwest with the material for Swiss cheese from Portland. The herd, which recently arrived, is to be made perfectly at home, for it is to have a Swiss keeper. The Hazelwood creamery of Portland, has brought the ani mals here and placed them on a ranch at Lakeside. *Mr. and Mrs. Geo. DeShields were Portland visitors last week. Mrs. C. J. Pimm and children went to Gresham Saturday rfiorn- ing. George Davis was another vis itor to Portland Friday after noon. Mrs. Anna Mikulecky return ed from Portland Friday after noon. Miss Mabel Wilcox was anoth er Portland visitor from Estaca da Saturday. Phil Marquam went to Port land Sunday, returning the fol lowingevening. The Family Theater Robert Stenzel o f Portland was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Sparks this week. Phil Standishand wife o f New- berg, Ore., passed through town Sunday afternoon. Charles and Neal Bronson were among the Saturday con tingent for Portland Dave Eshleman, wife and lit tle son were Portland visitors Friday and Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Bruce of Portland, were week end guests o f Mr. and Mrs. Geo. K. Arm* strong. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. K. Arm strong accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Botkin, drove in to see the Shriners parade Wednes day evening. Mr. and Mrs,. P. M. Wagner celebrated Mrs. Wagner’ s fifty- ninth birthday Sunday at the home o f their daughter, Mrs. Geo. Armstrong. Approximately $15,000.00 or one-sixth o f the state’s quota outside o f Portland has been sub scribed toward the budget sought by the Oregon State Chamber of Commerce in its expansion move ment.
