Mrs. F. E. Burns and daugh ter Bertha and Henry Cossman left last Thursday for Seaside for a ten days or two weeks stay. John Dunseath and family, who went to California last spring, is coming back to Esta cada and is expected in a few days. Improvements are going on at the local telephone office. Par titions are being put in and the office will be moved to the front o f the building. We understand t lat Mr. and Mrs. Wallace will have housekeeping rooms at the rear. f Harry R°id o f Portland was a week-end visitor in this section. Mrs. E. D. Allen o f Marmot, has been an Estacada visitor this week. Mrs. B. 0 Boswell of Gresh am, was a visitor in this city last Friday. Mrs. R. G. McCall and Miss Anna Dillon were week-end vis itors in Portland. Mrs. Ted Ahlberg visited her mother in Portland Saturday night and Sunday. J. W. Morrow of Portland, a former resident of this place, was in town Saturday. Mrs. Mvrtle Belfils and son Albert, went Saturday to High Camp to spend the summer. Russel Reed returned Sunday from Corvallis where he has been attending the O. A. C. Mrs. M. C. Young, o f Wilson- ville, was here last Saturday to attend the County Development League. Ed. Douglass has purchased a new Kleiber truck to replace the one lost in the Cascade garage fire a few days ago. Miss Beriha Hillman retim ed from O. A. C. last Thursday n igh t Mrs. Hillman went to Portland to meet her. Mrs. Emily Lady and daugh ter Virginia, o f Wasco, Wash., arrived last Friday to look after property interests here. Mrs. E. E. Ben net, of Port land, was the guest o f her aunt, Mri. P. S. Stamp and family, for several days last week. Mrs. C. C. Saling gave a party for her son Lloyd at the Estaca da hotel last Saturday night. The evening was spent in danc ing and numerous games and most delicious refreshments were serve I. The' residence o f O. E. Smith on Fifth street east, has been much improved by having been painted, the fence removed and the grounds put in order. Let the good1 work go on. • James Smith came near,being seriously injured last Friday when he was caught between the lumber dock and a moving car.
