Died at her home in Viola on Thursday evening, April 24th, Mrs. Louise Miller. She was born at Ulm, Germany, Dec. 26, 1840. Married to Carl C. Miller, May 20, 1860, from Germany they came to Kansas, Riley Co. in 1866, where they made their home for 18 years, and from there to the home at Viola, where they have resided for the past 33 years, o f a family o f 16 children, 10 are left to mourn a loving mother, there are 17 grand-child ren and 4 great grand-children living. Mr. A. Demoy conduct ed the services at The church at 1 o ’clock, Sunday. She was laid to rest in the cemetery on the hill, near her home. A large number of friends and neighbors paid their last respects to the de parted. The sons and daughters left are C. C. Miller and Wm. Miller of Portland; Robert and Adolph of George; Raymond and Edward at home; Mrs. Annie Stone, Highland; Mrs. Hamilton, Viola; Mrs. E. Coberly and Al fred Miller o f California. They are residents o f Portland. Mrs. Rose Suter went as a delegate from the George, Spring- water and Eagle Creek churches to the Presbyterian convention in Portland. James Rush while in Portland, Saturday, met with what could have been a severe accident. His son Dick was driving the machine while in the main part o f the city, the steering gear became defective and the result was that the machine struck a large truck. He reports that he has finished building a beautiful little church at Sandy, which will be conse crated about the end o f May. He also said he was fixing up the room in the old Park hotel here, ! where he holds services, and ! hopes this season to get a church building under way. He cele brated mass and performed other spiritual functions for the mem bers o f his faith in this vicinity last Sunday.
