Morrow of Mich igan gave a lecture in the school auditorium Wednesday evening, his subject being “Over the top for a Dry America. “ The lecture was a forceful one and of interest to the audience. Dr. Dubach of the Extension Dept, of the O. A. C. will lecture at the high school Friday evening, the 8th. All are invited to enjoy this lecture as it will he well worth hearing. Last Friday was “Rough-Neck- Day” , with all students coming to school attired in the most ridic ulous costumes obtainable. That afternoon a mock-trial was held, in which Ernest Smith, the defen dant, was fined 86c to treat the jury and ten days hard labor on the sidewalks around the school. The E. H. S. basket hall team will travel to Portland Friday, where they will tackle their old rivals, James-John High School and hope to put up a stiff fight. I riday evening a high school stepping party was given by Warren McWillis in the Odd Fel lows’ Hall, with some dancers appearing in their rough-neck cos tumes. A resume of the grade records for the present school season show Miss. Anderson’s room as having the highest attendance percent age, namely 97.9% Mrs. Boswell’s room the greatest number neither absent nor tardy, namely 19 and Miss Anderson’s room having been visited by the largest num ber of parents, namely 16. Mrs. R. B. Gibson of Eagle Creek. Mrs. Edw. Shearer of Gar field and Mrs. Frank Ewing of Viola were delegates last Satur day from this community, attend ing the session of the Women’s Council at Oregon City. The basket-social given by the Deep Creek School Saturday night was well attended, with many Barton and Boring people present. The proceeds of $118.45 will go towards the Red Cross and the school. _ __ R. C.
