Folsom of Spring- water has’ lately enlisted in the aviation service, being one of 6, chosen from 12.000 applicants for 8|iecial work in magneto oper ation and upkeep. At present Mr. Folsom is located in Chicago, with Mrs. Folsom, who, with her hnshand had been residing at Dayton, Wash, up to the time of his enlistment, now visiting at the parental home in Springwater. Miss Louise Maude Quilliam of the E. H. S. faculty was confined to tier home in Portland owing to illness the early part of the week, her classes l>eing in charge rtf Mrs. C. W. l>evore of Esta^ada. Pulley of Portland and Miss Ruth Zurcher of Silverton spent Thursday at the home of their brother-in-law Joe Guttridge. Miss Grace Seaquist of Buxton spent Thanksgiving vacation at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. J. Seaquist. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Lawrence, Mrs. Simmons, Miss Lyndell La Valley and Miss Evelyn Spanard of Portland spent Thursday with Mr. and M s. G. M. Lawrence. The Ladies Missionary Society met last Wednesday afternoon, in the church. The topic dis cussed was, “ Missionaries in Mexico” Mrs. Wm. Wallens and Miss Ava Owen spent Thanksgiving and the week-end visiting rela tives in Portland. Mrs. N. Smedley of Portland spent the week-end with her daughter Mrs. J. E. Shibley. Mrs. C. Howell of Sheridan Or. spent the past week with her sister Mrs.« G. C. G rable. Wm. Kandle of Tillamook is visiting friends and relatives here. D e a th S a d d e n s B a rto n H o m e A telegram announcing the sudden death of her only brother, Charles Longren, which occured at the home of his mother, Mrs. M. Longren of Boyd. Or., was received last Thursday ny Mrs. Minnie Forman of Barton. The deceased was 26 years old and is survived by his parents and two sisters. Mrs. Forman is now at Boyd, aiding in the settlement of the estate, while Mr. Forman has returned to Barton. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Wilcox have lately moved from ttie Spring- water side of the river, to a house which they have rented in Ter race Addition. Mrs. Ed. Allen of Estacada is now at O r o v i 11 e. Botkin of Gar field, elected as president of the Farmers’ and Merchants' Club, at Monday night’s meeting, that live and necessary organization is now due for a prosperous and useful year and under the able leadership of Mr. Botkin, much good .should be accomplished by and for the taxpayers. ^ We especially urge all taxpay ers in this community to join with that organization and trust that all members will give the heartiest of support to the new president. l 4 W e A re A ll G o in g T o T h e B u d g e t M e e tin g From the present outlook, not less than two hundred Eastern Clackamas County taxpayers will he in attendance at the coming Annual County Budget Meeting, . taking place at the Court House in Oregon City, Saturday, De cember 22nd. Dont forget, that it is your duty as a taxpayer to be present and protect your rights and have a say in the expenditures of your tax moneys.
