New Industry For This Com m unity In an advertisement in this is sue of the W. R. Reid Cereal Company, announcement is made of the commercial manufacture and sale of a new cereal beverage by W. K. Reid of Garfield. Mr. Reid, for many years prior to his coming to Oregon was re cognized as one of the leading millers and cereal authorities of Minnesota and since coming west has experimented wish this bev erage, which he has termed Nu- trine. Friends of Mr. Reid’s have for the past two years urged him to place this delicious drink and health food on the market, but up to now he has manufactured it only for home consumption. If success meets the efforts of Mr. Reid in this new health drink, it will mean the establishment of another productive industry for this community. Mail R oute Changes On March 1st, there will be a change in the rural mail service from the Estacada office. H. E. Wops ter, will be trans ferred to Route No. 1; Abraham Demoy retiring. Frank E. Kirk will assume the duties on Route No. 3, heretofore performed by H. E. Wooster. Both carriers are familiar with their respective routes, and there should be no occasion for com plaint after the first day. Representative Stephens Returns Hon. H. C. Stephens of George returned Tuesday evening from the 41 day session of the State Legislature and was welcomed at the farm gate by the lowing of the pedigreed Jersey kine, the cackling of the hens and ap proving grunts of the long neg lected swine. Mrs. Alfred Jennsen of Glas gow, Montana is visiting at the home of her brother, D. E. Me Connell --- of ------- Currinsville. - Mr. J. P. Steinman of Currins- ville was very pleasantly surpris ed last Sunday when a number of friends and relatives gathered at his home to help celebrate his 61st birthday, and all enjoyed a fine dinner prepared by his daughter Mrs. D. Dhulst, the other day, Mrs. George Judd very delight fully entertained the H e l p i n g Hand last Wednesday afternoon. There were several ladies present who do not belong to the club, but came on invitation. They were: Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Brav- ender, Mrs. Longwell; Mrs. Ro- cliffe and Mrs. Gerald Wilcox. Mrs. M. E. Judd will entertain the club at her home Feb. 28th. Mr. Bow, of Portland, was out Sunday visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Hill. Eagle (’reek Grange met as us ual at the Grange Hall Saturday; 38 patrons, including visitors, be ing present. A short business session was held before noon when an inter mission was given for the pur pose of partaking of an excellent dinner. Shortly after dinner business was resumed. The Lecturer’s program was fine, several selections on the life of George Washington being read-also discussions on the topics in the Grange Bulletin. The en tertainment committee chose the evening of March 10th as the time to hold the Grange enter tainment, which will be at Wil- bern’s Hall, Eagle Creek. A plate supper will be served. An admis sion will be charged at the door. Among the many visitors cal ling at the home of H H. Hoff- meisrer Sunday was F. W. Bates, of Garfield. Mr. and Mrs. Will Douglass and Charlie Sweeney were enter tained at dinner Sunday by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Murphy. Mr. and Mrs. George Preister and children; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Benson and children, of Logan, were dinner guests at the home of Roy Douglass Sunday, the oc casion being the fifth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Douglass. E. Naylor got hurt the other day and fears a rib was broken. He is able to be about but has to be careful while at work as a sharp twinge of pain grips him at times. H. S. and R. B.
