Apple Show This Fall There is a movement on foot among the leading fruit growers, of the community to this fall stage an Eastern Clackamas \pple Show, which will occur late in the fall, after the regular East Clackamas County Fair. Indications point towards a good apple year in this district, with many of the younger com mercial orchards now putting forth fruit. It is suggested that growers, whether of commercial apples or not, give especial attention to their fruit, as cash prizes will be offered for plate and box exhibits. Now is the critical time o f year to do away with danger of wormy and scabby apples. County Fruit Inspector, Standish, recommends a lime and sulfur, 1 to 35 solution, with 2 pounds of arsenate of lead added to each 50 gallons of the solution, to be sprayed on the fruit now before the calyx cup closes and again about the first week in June and for the third time early in August. It would also be advisable to thin the fruit about the middle of June, there by assuring fewer but better apples. Miss Florence Lilburn and brother of Roseburg, motored out to Estacada last Saturday from Portland, to witness the amateur vaudeville show at the Family Theatre, returning that evening. F. R. Cook of Portland, who is the owner of a twenty acre orchard tract adjoining the Gar field Grange Hall, is arranging to erect a small summer home on his property, for use this sum mer.
