per acre, with 35 bushels; Illinois
j leading with 36 bushels and Iowa,

Oregon, with a yield value of
$28.70 per acre, leads the others;
¡Illinois value being $19.44 with
the others less.
Of course, Oregon’s acreage of
corn is very small as compared
with the middle western states,
but it is good news to find that
I we are well in line to become a
corn growing state.
The Oregon Voter, from which
these figures w e r e obtained,
gives much credit for this condi
tion to the O. W. R. & N. and
Great Northern Rys., the O. A.
C., and several eastern Oregon
counties. To this list should be
added Clackamas County, with
the P. R. L. & P. Co., among the
railways that have helped to
stimulate the growing of this
