Council Meeting Items
The Estacada City Council met
in the office of Recorder Devore,
last Tuesday evening and dispos­
ed of consideiable business, be­
sides considering a number of
other important matters.
After ifuditing and ordering
current bills paid, the Street &
Public Service committee, was
authorized to close a contract
with the P. R. L. & P. Co., for
the city’s future lighting.
Inasmuch as the sewer, in the
alley adjoining the M. E. Church,
was found to be about 18 inches
hieher than shown on city’s plats
and too high to handle the drain­
age from the church, the council
agreed to stand the additional
expense necessary to carry the
church’s sewer connection to a
point low enough to furnish prop­
er flow.
N. C. Jannsen, a well digging
and drilling contractor o f S t
Johns, presented to the council
an estimate o f the cost o f instal­
ling a driven well, to supply Es­
tacada with its future water
supply.
Mr. Jannsen’s proposition was
o f interest to the council and a
committee was appointed to ob­
tain further information from
other cities using similar water,
as to the cost of up-keep and oth­
er items.
There will probably be a spec­
ial meeting held this month, to
take action in connection with
certain sidewalk ordinances that
have not as yet been conformed
to.
Springwater Grange Installs
Installation of the officers of
the Springwater Grange t o o k
place last Saturday, the install­
ing officers being Mrs. Ed Bates,
assisted by Mr. Bates of Estaca­
da. both being past masters.
The officers installed, comprised
the list shown in the December
23rd issue of the Progress.
Three candidates were also in­
itiated into the 1st and 2nd de­
grees and seven in the fourth.
A splendid dinner was served to
about 40 members.
H. M. Patton who recently
sold out his Springwater hold-
iugs and went back to Pennsyl­
vania, his native state, has re­
turned to Springwater, but has
not as yet located permanently.

Dog Wrecks Store
