Preparations are going forward for the meeting of the Salem dis trict of Methodist ministers to take place in Estacada April 16-17. Rev. W . R. F. Browne, pastor ot the Methodist church, has received some correspondence but the pro gram has not yet been announced. The first evening there will be a reception at which three addresses of welcome will be made. Mhyor J. * W. Reed for the city; Professor James for the Methodist church and Rev. W . Clackamas county is divided into ten districts. F.sta- cada is one and the contestants who are divided into two classes, A and B, the former including those be tween 12 and 20 and the latter be tween 5 to 12 years old, will contest locally and at the state fair front this county. He says he has kept pret ty close count and within a radius of five miles of Estacada there are 98 incubators in operation. Their friends enjoyed progressive five-hundred, the principal form of amusement, five tables participating. A t the conclusion of the game a count showed that first prizes had bee., won by Mrs. L. A . Heylman are realized, work will begin short ly on a modern little theatre on Main street, negotiations for the lot being about completed. The structure, if built, will be 75 by 80 feet, two stories and a half high of frame. Modern lighting and exits are to be furnished. The lobby is to be 10 feet extending the entire from of the building and the stage 20 feet deep with a height of two stories and a half. The parquet occupies the remain ing fifty feet. The first balcony and the gallery are to be in the second story. In front of the bal cony and facing Main street, it is planned to put in offices. Drama may be presented on the stage as well as moving pictures. Mr. Heylman has been planning the building for some time and lias about decided to construct it. Mrs. Sara Green Davis, a charter member of the first Oregon grange died at her home in Garfield, last Fri day after a lingering illness. Services for the immediate family were con ducted at the home, Sunday at 1 o’clock and at 2 o’clock public services took place at Mt. Zion church where a large crowd was in attendance. Deceased was a member of the Christian church of Estacada and the services were con ducted by Rev. W. Givens, assisted by Rev. Mr. Browne and C. F. Swander. P. F. Standish and the Memorial church quartet had charge of the music. The burial was at Zion cemetery in charge of the Garfield grange, of which de ceased was a charter member. Mrs. Davis was born at Albany, N. Y. Jan. 25 , 1851 . She was married May 24 , 1867 to William Davis who sur vives her. Of the union seven sons and three daughters were born, all liv ing. She crossed the plains with her husband settling in Clackamas county in 1868 . She was a charter member of Marshfield grange No. 1 and also of Garfield grange. Mdse. The ditch is practically completed and laying of the mains will begin im mediately.
