Hoygaard has taken up an estray hog that has been more or less of a nuisance about his place. Noah Heiple is overhauling his thresher separator and getting it ready for the Fall season. Tim Linn, who is managing the Linn lumber mill, is taking good care of a felon on his hand. Jesse Stubbs has gone back to his claim in Washington up the Colum bia river. The board of trustees of Spring- water school district has retained Miss Grace and Miss Erma Shibley for another year. Handles Real Estate, Town Lots both Business and Residence, and Farm Property near Estacada Joseph Pinkley Dead Mr. Jospeh Pinkley, who died at lii.s home near Estacada at i o'clock Sunday, Ju ly 19, 1908, was born in Pennsylvania on Nov. 26, 1826 He came across the plains with an ox team in 1850, and has spent the most of the time since then in Clack amas county. He was one of the pioneers who “ ate his salmon straight without salt.’ ’ He was married to Miss Elizabeth L- De- Shields in 1857, and to this union eleven children were born, six girls and five boys; four of the latter have preceded him to their better home. These are living— Mrs. Julia Messa of Richland, Mrs. Manda Davis of Garfield, Mr. Elijah EL Pinkley of Gresham, Mrs. Emma Keith of E s tacada, Mrs. Dorothy Woodard of Oswego, Mrs. Eflie Hore of Port land, and William Pinkley of Esta cada. He also leaves five sisters and three brothers who are scatter ed in different states. In 1858 Mr. Pinkley and wife become members of the Ml Zion M. E . church of which Mr. Pinkley has been a faith ful member and officer. He enlist ed as a volunteer in the army in ’ 56 and served in the Indian war, being the last member of Co. E. He had a very retentive memory, and his religious experience was bright un til the eud. During the past 14 months Mr. Pinkley suffered con tinually, but always said: “ I have nothing to complain of.” The fun eral and burial took place at Mt. Zion Monday afternoon, Rev. M. B.
