Mrs. Nellie Ballou was taken to a Portland hospital Monday to receive treatment for typhoid fever. 1907 The Fifth Anniversary edition of the Oregon Journal eclipses any thing in the special edition line that has appeared in the West. Get your books early The Estacada Pharmacy When You Buy This State Fish Warden VanDusen, in his August report, lias the follow ing to say of the Clackamas: “ The Clackamas river experi mental station below the dam at Cazadero is proving to be a com plete success. The salmon have been retained and held in a con tented condition throughout the entire season and we arc now suc ceeding in collecting a fine lot of spawn. They are, without doubt, all front the very earliest variety of spring Chinook salmon and entered the Columbia river during April and early May, for we have watch ed the situation very closely and have had them in sight within a couple or three miles since the first of June, and for two months have had them between racks. We be gan taking spawn Aug. 6 blit in no great quantity, for only a few of the Salmon liecantc mature so early. The principal work in this line began Aug. 20 and since then a fair supply of spawn has lieett ta ken every day. From recent re ports they have collected nearly a million and a half of spawn and have salmon on hand between racks that should give them two or thee millions more. Fire came nearly destroying the railway company's power house at Boring Tuesday night. Some box cars also caught fire, hut no great damage was done. A half dozen original Americans arrived in Estacada Monday even ing from across the mountains with huckleberries and a drove of ponies to sell the pale faces. A party of Portland’s representa tive business men visited Estacada last Saturday. President Ben S. Josselyn of the Portland Railway, Light & Power Company had the party in towage. They visited the entire portion of the big electric power plant on the Clackamas river above here and were shown the possibilities that may yet be devel oped from the river. The party had dinner at the Hotel Estacada. Proprietor I.aitrry served dinner in the parlor, which was beautifully decorated. In the center of the ta ble was a very large float of Caro line Testout roses, and minature electric lights were partly hidden by fern, ivy and roses.
