A man at Condon stepped through a board over the cylinder of a threshing machine, was precipitated into the mouth of the machine and one of his legs was ground off by the cylinder teeth. He was taken to The Dalles and died from shock and the loss of blood. It's getting so that everything with wheels is dan gerous. The death of the Condan man is but an incident and shows that "safety first' sideration, even fields. is; not given con in the harvest Matches in the hands of small boys are a menace to our fair city, the fire at the Cecil Woodcock home last Friday was the direct, result of small boys playing with lucifers. A little application of a razor strop to the place provided by nature would have the effect of educating the young hopefuls to the fact that matches had no place in their posses sion. Maupin'sj water supply is coming in for its share of praise words from tourists. Monday a party stopped off for refreshments and the first thing they asked was, "what kind of water have yt u?" They were given drinks and several said it was the best water they had had on their trip, and some of them were from the east at that.
