Mrs. Jessie Woodeock has been yisiting friends in Wamic the past week. Mysterious is the disappearance of Nathan Hill who left his home at Fort Rock two weeks ago on horseback to go to Silyer Lake, thirtv miles distant. After a few days hia wife (formerly Miss Al pha Mavfield of this place) became uneasy because of his absence and drove the car to Silver Lake in search of him. Finding no trace of him she telegraphed to her father, W. H. Mayfield to come and assist in the search as he cer tninlv had met with an accident. Mrs. Mayfield heard from her husband Tuesday who said Mr. Hill had not been seen by any one since leaving his home that fateful morning. Snow all gone. Wedding bells. Sick people much better. The census man has come and gone. Orrin Farlow has returned from Maupiu where he was taking treat ment for a sore hand. J, M Farlow had the misfor tune to be kicked by a horse last week. He is now able to get around Rev. Geo. Eads went to Silver Lake to help in a series of meet ing. He will be absent two weeks Wamic News . Kennedy were the first ones to go from here to The Dalles after the fall of the snow. They found the roads very rough. A. E. Lake was a Dalles visitor a week ago Friday remaining till Monday. Mrs. Emma Chastain left a week ago for Yakima, Wn., to visit at the home of Frank Chastain. Mrs. Pearl Harvey and little Mr9. Tillie Izenberg accompanied them home. Miss Hilda Lake is a patient at the hospital in The Dalles. Mrs. Maggie woodceck returned to Maupin Saturday after a three weeks' stay in The Dalles. Mrs. Josie Lake is recovering from an attack of quinsy. Phi! Byrd and family returned from Hood River and Gresham lately where they visited relatiyes. A horse fell with Liberty Chas tain more than a week ago laying him up for several days. Percy Diiytr took his place at the Bud Haryey sarin while he was ill. Little Hazel Johnson did a queer stunt during the coasting season by going between the Ted Seufert horses and the wheels of the wagon which wer in the sled's path. Willie Magill rescued her unhurt. The horses were gentle and did not beoome frightened. Mrs. Matie Patison and Mrs. Laura Driyer have been confined to their beds recently but are both recovering. Vernie Norval has recovered from an attack of quinBy. Miss Erma Driver had a fingwr hurt badly while coasting recently The literary is meeting again alter the several weeks' vacation during the storm. Choir practise is renewed again at Sunday school. Many were in attendance at the meeting held to organize an Amer ican Legien. A snare and a base drum and several other instruments have been added to the orchestra here. The Misses Crystal Pratt and Dorathy McCorkle have obtained employ ment in Portland, Delbert McCoy was oyer from lis homestead recently going on to The Dalles.
