Obituary f
Nancy E. Miller, daughter of
David H. Miller was born in the
state of Indiana February 5th,
1858. She came with her purents
across the plains by ox team in
1865 at the age of 12 years, to
Portland, Oregon, finally settling
on a farm near Albany in Linn
county. After a few years the
family moved to Multnomah coun
ty and Bellied nenr Gresbam at
which place she Was married in
1871 to James R. Woodcock. To
this union eleven children were
born, six boys and five girls, fivo
of the children having preceedecl
their mother to the graye. Six
children, three boys and three
girls remain to mourn the depar
ture, all of whom were present.
The family moved to Wamic in
1876, 43 years ago. This mother
having ber lot with the early
settlers of the great Pacific North
west faced the hardships of front
ier life bravely, thinking not so
much of her own needs as the
needs of her family and neighbors.
This sterling quality of our early
fathers and mothers makes us of
another generation brave and
happy.
Thus Nancy E. Woodcock lived
and November 20th, 1 1 1 0. she
died, aged 66 years," 9 mouths and
21 days.

was attended by a number of the
citizens from here. The proposi
tion seems to have taken yery
favorably. It is stated there were
only five votes cast against in the
two precincts.
Mrs. D.' Woodside who is visit
ing in Uecator, Illinois, writes
that she is having a fine time.
Jim Hartman has gone to Idaho
with a view to buying a big stock
ranch near Boise.
Commercial Club meet at the
school house Saturday night. Ev
erybody come.

of a great home-coming on Thanks
giving day, when their seven
children came back home, bring
ing their families with them.
The gathering consisted of Grand
pa aud Grandma Magill, their
seven children, namely, Mrs. Anna
Packard, Mrs. Edith Eubank?,
Mrs Jessie McCorkle, Mrs. May
Crofoot, Will, George aud Fred
Magill, with their husbands and
wives, eighteen grandchildren with
their husbands and wives and five
great grandchildren.
The day was spent in feasting,
visiting and rejoicing, and all
reported a grand aud gloriaus lime
