The field work will be near the Wapinitia Irrigation Co's. celebration ground and the lecture in the evening following at Wapinitia school house. Mr. Chase has visited the fiat recently and applied various kinds of fertilizers to alfalfa and these experiments will be explained also J. S. Brown's seeond crop of alfalfa hay this year from cutting to euttiug was thirty-three days. His next cutting will be in Sept ember about the 10th. A fine record for alfalfa which is arous ing new interest in the new farm ing with water. W. B. Keen and wife are back from the Frog creek feeder to do some irrigating on some ranch now held by the Co. E. E. Miller, general manager of the Co. was o Hat visitor several days receutly. Jess Cox, Ben Richardson, 0. Weberg, John West and others wore aiding Joe Graham in con troling the recent forest fire epi demiu. The recent rains aided the fire-fighters wonderfully. Nurses Wanted So many graduate nurses are being called for U. 6. army service overseas that the ranks of the nurses are greatly depleted and the Women's Council of National Defense has issued a call for 25,000 young women to join the United States Student Nuises Reserve and hold themselves in readiness to train for service as nurses. Only those who have taken the aill training course are eligibly for mce with the American expect tiouaty forces. These nurses are drawn largely from our hospitals at home. Their place must be filled by student training course of from two to three years. Every young woman who is in the Unit ed States Student Nurse Reserve is releasing a nurse for service at the front and swelling the home army which we must rely on as our second line of hospital defense. Upon the health of the American people will depend the spirit of their fighting forces, Mrs. II. R. Mrs. E. J. Styer's parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Rasmussen of Hillsboro, and daughter arrived Tuesday and spent a couple days with her. A. L. Anderson and F. D. Stu art went up the river fishing Sun day and caught fifty fine trout. Mr. Anderson brought several to the Times office the next morning. Through error we failed to men tion last week the return home of Mrs. L. S. Stovall and children. Mrs. McFarland, Mrs Stovall'B mother, came with them and is making a visit. Mrs. W. D. Roberts and chil dren came down from Madrs Sun day and visited her sister, Mrs. Philmlee, a couple days.
