Road Bulldar' association declar
ed today.

sent to the acrap heap during
1927, the association stole. This
waa 11.05 per cent of the total
registration at the beginning of the
year. Indicating that ahould thla
average maintain, the entire stock
of motor cara would be replaced
every eight and one-fourth year.
The average life of a. motor vehicle
was formerly estimated at seven
yea ra.
New Toric led all states In the
number of cara scrapped, that state
discarding H3.372 vehicles. Nevada
discarded only 813 vehlclea, the
smallest number of all tatea. Ar
kansaa held the highest junkage
rate, that eta to discarding 16. per
cent of all vehicle registered at
the beginning of the year. South
Carolina discarded only 2.8 per
cent of the cara registered.
Two States Stand Still
All hut two states registered more
vehicles In 1927 than In 1926. They
were Florida and Arkansas, the
former decreasing by 6,828 car
and the latter by 2,851. North
Carolina recorded the largest com
parative Increase, that state gain
ing 11.8 per cent over 1926. Na
tional registration was Increased
6.1 per cent.
