Two mounted heads of Alaskan
sheep (ovls dalll) on tho north
wall of the lobby of the First Na
tional hank have attracted a great
deal of attention during tho past
few days. The animals were killed
In the summer of 1927 by M. E.
Snyro of Los Angeles who Is well
known In Eugone, having come to
Eugene for the past six or seven
years to fish in the McKenzie river.
The head on the left, as one
faces the north, Is the more por
fect and Interesting of tho two. It
has a 15 '4 Inch base and the horns
hnve a 42 Inch curl and a spread
of 2i Inches. Government au
thorities have estimated that the
average life of the Alaskan sheep
Is about IS years. Judging from
the rings on this sheep's horns, the
animal was 19 years old when
killed. It weighed 236 pounds.
