A, In its inception was for men only, but tho move ment spread to tho boys and for the past 60 years the boys' work ot the association has been growing to sucn an extent tnat It Is now regarded as the most Important part of the program. "Organised Into IS clubs three Hl-Y, five comrade six l'lonoer, and three Friendly Indian, each class Is adapted v a different age, from 10 to IS years. These clubs have the four-fold program that has jcen stressed since the first boys' department was organised la Salem, Mass., in 1S67. It empha sises tho physical, mental, social and spiritual, the spiritual being tho basis of the whole. Because of this emphasis on tho religious In the program, this typo of boys' work is naturally adapted to the churches and Is eagerly sought by them. All the clubs mentioned above. except tho Hl-Y clubs, aro tied to the local churches, the Y. M. C. A. discovering and training most of the leaders.. Jast year 2S boys made Christian decisions and 12 ' joined the church. While tho Y. M. c. A. has a building, the actlv ittes are not confined to its four walls, tout is community-wide. In ddition to the above clubs, a training class for leaders of boys' ?luhs was organised. A Iane county conference of older ooys was promoted with 61 boys meeting for two days in JEu gene.
