special excursion to Cottage Grove
next Saturday when the Eugene
high school football team plays Its
first game of the season with the
Cottage Grove squad. A minimum
of 125 students is required to sign
up in order to obtain the special, is
the announcement. Fred Chess
has charge cf the arrangements
and It is expected that a big dele
gation will attend the grid clash.
Cottage Grove played its, first
game yesterday with Roseburg and
was defeated by a score of 27 to 7i

The Oregon grid .squad is ready
for the Pacific veteran eleven to
day, said Coach Shy Huntington
yesterday. The two teams will
clash, this afternoon on Haywnrd
field at 2:30. Following a light
work-out last night, the team was
pronounced In good condition by
Trainer Hayward, and the game
today is expected to be one of the
best played here this season. The
Oregon squad has been practicing
hard and Thursday night Hunting
ton himself piloted a third string
team which gave the varsity some
real defensive work.
Oregon's backfield ia to be her
main hope for scoring today, for'
three real veterans. Moo Sax, Hal
Chapman and "Hunk"' Latham,
will probably be seen in the start'
ing lineup. Jens Terjesen will
probably be the fourth man to play
behind the line, while Shy has
several - others ' that will get
chance before the game is over.
TJneup Announced
Either Sinclair or Wilson will
start at center, while the two line
veterans Karl Von der Aho and
Dick Reed, will no doubt be in
the tackle berths. Williamson and
Risley have been showing up best
so far. for end places, and wlu
probably bear tho brunt -of the
game, while Bailey and Mills are
the best available for guards.
Utility backfield men who it i
expeoted will get a chance to see
action before the game is very old
include Toole, who can play quar
ter; Anderson, McAuliffe and
Poulson. These' men are all in wen
perienced but have been showing
good stuff in practice scrimmage.
