Carnival Coming
What will probably he the last cur
oival to show in Eugene wiii bo the
Foley & Burke attractions, to visit
Eugene July 8 to 11.
Advance man for tho carnival paid
$0 to Judge Ceorso A. Gilmore,
city recorder, todny, for a license ss
provided under the present city ordi
nance governing carnivals
Following a protest on the part of
citizens o tho last carnival in Eu
irene, the city council ordered the city
attorney to frame an ordinance vir
tually banishing carnivals from ap
pearing in the city. As no meeting has
been held by the council by that time,
the ordinance has not even passed its
first reading.
Inasmuch as Foley and Burke ap
plied for Ibeir concession long before
the Snapp Brothers carnival, and be
cause the former had virtually re
ceived permission last March to show
here, the city recorder granted the
license.
