Robert Henry Cook was born nt Oregon City, Ore, Feb. 17, IMS. lie came with his parents to Hen ton county near Corvallis in liCitl. Later the family moved to Corvallis. 1 iiop be was raised to manhood. In 1S71 he married Mary Jane Manning. With his wife the de censed came to lnne coun ty in 1S7-S. For mme time he lived at Franklin and Monroe, nnd finallv settled in Junction City in 18111. Since that time most of his days were spe in this city. From yung mnnh- od Ilobert Cook wns a faithful number of the Church of Christ. He joined the Junction City church iu 11M and for some time wu an elder of the church. Two children pre-decensed him. They nre F.dnn Cook and Willinni Cook who wss killed in the Philippine war. He survived by his wife, Mary Jane Cck. his hiother, K. M. They withdrew immed iately afterward and the rest of the ceremony proceeded without a bitch. J he president-elect left the chancel lor's palace where he had spent the' night at about 11:4.) a. m. for the Reichstag building where the inaug-! ural ceremony was held. At the door of the Reichstag build ing Von Hindenburg was greeted by the vice-presidents and the adminis trative director who conducted him to the waiting Herr Loebe. The marble steps leading to the chamber were decorated with deep blue hyd rangeas, the new president's favorite flower, with laurel trees on either side. At noon. Von Hindenburg, accom panied by Loebe entered the chnmber which was bare of decorations except around the president's table. Behind the president's chair hung a huge tap estry bearing the German coat of arms, which was encased iu laurel wreaths interwoven with the repub lican colors of red, white nnd gold. The president's table at which Von Hindenburg stood while being sworn into office was covered with a large republican flag and was flanked on either side by hydrangeas. The inauguration took place in the presence of the members of the Reich stag, whose socialist members wore red enruatinns.
