Masked men rob La Grande Store patched a squadron of airplanes out side the Golden Gate on reconnais sance to ascertain whether any "enemy" submarine were lying in am bush outside the harbor and await ing the fleet. As would be the case in war, the long concentration of the nation's mightiest arms of defense was led by the mine sweeper force of the fleet, re-infnrced by the mine sweepers of the twelfth naval district, which re turned Inter to port. Sweepers Comb Bay The sweepers combed the bay and proceeded past ihe Golden Gate, where they spread out in a huge arc and cleared the sea over the path followed by the fleet in order that all mines laid by tho "enemy'1 might be collected without damaging the con centration units. Then came the destroyers, lean, long, bloodhounds of the fleet and the cruisers, armored and light, some of them with a speed of 33 knota which make them among tho fastest craft afloat Followed then the ships of the train, known as the fleet base force, the less romantic, but highly important auxiliaries, such as hos pital, repair, supply ships, collicra, tugs aud tankers. Then came the pride of the fleet the backbone of the navy the battle ships the squat, wide-beamed bull dogs of the sea. Serene, indifferent and unruffled by the stir their ap pearance created among the crowds of spectators, the floating fortresses, each an armored, bristling house of steel, steamed slowly out to sea. You Larger Womenand You Undersized Maybe you think that you are hardest to fit of all. Not so no one in these days of really scien tific coat making is much of a problem. It seems to be no trick at all for really skilled designers and stylists to seemingly take off inches, reduce pounds or add bulk or height where needed. After all, it's not so much of a fitting problem as one of styling the style's the thing that gives tone and distinction.
