Too often the quality of the jar has been taken for granted just as too little attention has been giv en to the Rubbers and Caps. Success in canning is a question of small details, and a perfect jar is as essential to good results as the selection of ingredients and the method of procedure. Ball Jars are the scientific development of many years devoted to experimenting and practice. The vast resources of the Ball institution have been constantly devoted to the perfecting of the jars that bear its name. Ball Jars Are the Only Fruit Jars Made by the lw "lfv Owens Process The "Owens Process" consists HjL. i. in Araurncr intn t ll form i n rr m nl rl Q liv ei irtinn t K r rMwj & & J " i exact quantity of glass necessarv to make the jar,' this glass being evenly distributed on all sides; then blowing into shape, forming one I D EAL homogenous structure. In the old process the 2viyJ necK as wen as tne. sealing snouicler is pressed, '& while the body of the jar is blown. This makes two natures of glass which is difficult to anneal, and often results in the jars twisting off at the neck when screwing on the caps. The Owens Process makes possible an absolutely smooth and perfect shoulders for the Rubber Ring, insuring a pos itive air-tight seal. The inside finish of the jar is perfectly smooth, lias no sharp offsets to catch any particles of food while being emptied, making it easier to wash, therefore more sanitary. Hall Owens Process Jars may lie readily identified by the even distribu tion of glass, the . smoothness of the finish around the neck, the free dom from blisters, clearness of glass and the strong, double shoulder which was originated bv the Hall Process.
